FlipSide Miami 2023: Celebrating Artistry, Generosity, and Community

 

The Dade County (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated enthusiastically hosted its signature fundraiser – FlipSide Miami -- at The Lou Rawls Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Florida Memorial University (FMU) in the City of Miami Gardens.  FMU was the place to be on September 30th, 2023, as FlipSide Miami, an enchanting showcase of hidden talents within South Florida's professional community, took center stage. This extraordinary event provided a captivating glimpse into the artistic prowess of individuals who, by day, are politicians, business executives, healthcare professionals, and educators.

 

What makes FlipSide Miami truly special is its celebration of The Arts, one of The Links, Incorporated's national facets, dedicated to enriching the lives of youth and communities through engaging cultural experiences. Whether attendees were first-timers or returning guests, FlipSide Miami delivered an unforgettable evening of entertainment. This year marked the event's 5th edition and exceeded all expectations.

 

One of the evening's highlights, outside of the immensely talented pool of professionals, was undoubtedly the sensational performance by the incomparable Regina Belle, who left the audience in awe with her exquisite performance and mesmerizing voice.

Participants received a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork specially designed for FlipSide Miami by renowned artist C.J. Latimore, which added an extra layer of elegance to the event.

 

One of the most significant moments of the evening was the presentation of a $25,000 check for the Dade County (FL) Chapter'ss endowment fund at Florida Memorial University, an HBCU located in Miami-Dade's own backyard. This endowment, established in 1999, continues to benefit students from the African Diaspora who are pursuing a college degree at FMU.

 

Beyond the entertainment and artistic expressions, FlipSide Miami serves a greater purpose: The event's proceeds support the charitable and educational programs of the Dade County (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, enhancing the lives of individuals and families in the local community.
